
Metal Detecting and Laws
The Coffee Bush Kid metal detects in Australia and sometimes in the UK.
He holds a Miner's Right in the State of Victoria, is a member of the Prospectors and Miners Association of Victoria and the National Council for Metal Detecting in the UK and abides by the Metal Detecting Codes of conduct.
PMAV
The Prospectors and Miners Association of Victoria is a voluntary body created to protect the rights and opportunities of those who wish to prospect, fossick or mine in the State of Victoria, Australia.
Education and Respect of heritage and goldfield communities is foremost.
THe PMAV assists and supports members of the Association to take advantage of the heritage, rights and privileges conferred by the Miner’s Right.
NCMD
The NCMD plays a vital role in representing detectorists during the creation of changes to legislation that may affect their freedom to detect in the UK. It also plays a vital role in representing members interests and queries around the finds recording and treasure processes and ensures that it is part of key groups such as the Portable Antiquities Advisory Group (PAAG), which is in place to discuss and advise on matters relating to the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS). The group is made up of members from the PAS, British Museum, Archaeology Groups, and members of the NCMD Committee. In Scotland they work with KLTR and Treasure Trove Unit.
